My wife MaryAnne once said: "Jim you can't write great songs because you don't have much tragedy in your life". I think she was testing me to try to write deeper, more meaningful songs. Then the Newtown tragedy at Sand Hook elementary happened.

I know the pain of what a parent goes through having seen my Mom suffer depression her whole life after having lost her first son before I was born. And so I wanted to create a song for the parents. Hoping that one of the 26 parents would hear the song and hopefully help them cope. It's a song about healing. "To honor a soul, seize the day."

Our daughter Marissa was 11 years old at the time when we recorded the song. Her angelic voice with soft heartfelt tones made this song precious. The pastor that presided over the funerals in Newtown heard this song and sent us a handwritten card of thanks. We vowed that any profits made from the recording of this song will go to the Sandy Hook Family Foundation which directly supports these families.

One of the most rewarding projects I've ever been a part of, Jin Lee took my melody and brought it to life on the piano. Armi Abiera coached our daughter and her friends on harmonies which adds such a touching effect to the song. My wife MaryAnne produced an amazing video on You Tube.
